Against Pragmatism: The Vapid Philosophy of Modern Politics.
Pragmatism is rooted in idealism and used much too often by many mainstream politicians and activists. Pragmatists believe that what “works” is true, rather than what is true, works. They claim that some strategy, bills, or laws will work, but they aren’t able to prove what, where, when, why, and how it will work, and why we would want it to work in the first place. What they claim to work is narrow and simplistic. They will disguise their pragmatist reasoning with being “practical” or “realistic”. Unfortunately, non-critical and lazy minded people will believe them. And, unfortunately, the pragmatists will often be applauded for their vapid, bandaid solutions. Watch out for these types!
